Flood triggered by days of torrential rain has destroyed around 1,650 houses in Jajere and Yunusari towns of Yobe State.

This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje on Saturday in Damaturu.

He said around 413 people in the areas were displaced by the latest disaster.

Goje said a final assessment of the destruction caused by another flood in Yusufari, Wagir, Mutai Chirokusko, Bade, and Potiskum towns was ongoing.

In his words: “SEMA is conducting daily review meetings to assess the situation, update stakeholders, and come up with an immediate response plan in line with vulnerabilities of affected locations and resources available on ground.”

The SEMA chief said arrangements had reached an advanced stage for the delivery of relief materials to the affected communities as directed by Governor Mai Mala Buni.
