Three unregistered bakeries and a water factory in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, have been shut down by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

The agency disclosed this in a post on social media on Tuesday, stating that the facilities were operating in makeshift structures with poor hygiene standards, posing serious health risks to consumers.

The unregistered bakeries, situated in Rmuoparali and Mgbuoba areas, were sealed because they were operating in unhygienic environment.

The enforcement agency disclosed that the the shutdown was because of substandard form of production which include the use of a generator inside the production room.

The State Coordinator, Rivers State, Emmanuel Onogwu urged the public to continue providing helpful information to NAFDAC to improve the safety and quality of regulated products.
